Salad spinners usually consist of an outer bar and inner removable strainer basket made up of plastic. The outside bowl has a cover that is equipped with the spinning mechanism that helps to rotate the insider strainer. The water gets out through the slits in basket to the outer bowl.
Salad spinners come in different designs. Some salad spinners have handles on the cover which are being rotated to remove the water from salad vegetables. Some salad spinners have pull cord or push button for spinning mechanism. Today, electric salad spinners are also available.
How to use?
First of all you have to cut the vegetables or fruits and chop them before putting them into a salad spinner. After you finish chopping, keep the chops aside and remove the strainer. Put all the chops together with lettuce and toppings inside the strainer. Make sure to have running water on the strainer to wash the salad properly. Put the strainer inside the spinners and close the lid properly so that water will not spatter out during the spinning process. It can take 10 to 15 seconds to remove the excess water completely from the salad greens. When you are sure that water is completely removed, you can take the salad out of the spinners and keep it in the bowl. Now, you can easily place the toppings.
It is a very convenient and easy process. You don’t have to spend a long time and effort in washing vegetables for salad. You can also store the washed salads in the strainer to use it later on. Whenever you wish to prepare salad, you can use the salad spinner.
